Messing with facial recognition in iLife '09

 What is it about facial recognition software that makes it unable to deal with animals?
 
I understand that it would difficult to pick out 2 kittens from a litter... but, if I have a number of pictures with my pet's face shouldn't it be able to match patterns?
 
I just think iLife '09 should know that this is Domino or at least default to Kung Fu Panda.
